Ah, television. The object of our attention. To lure us away from the world around us. Great video clip.

Window gardening
What a great idea. Gardening from your window. Great idea for children too, I would think. Showing them the joys of gardening, even in this restricted environment.

The Fountain

Watched one of my favorite movies, "The Fountain" by Darren Aronofsky and starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. I love the overall theme and concept, the visual aesthetic and of course, the music by Clint Mansell. There is little CG effects in this film and all the wonderful "space" scences throughout the film were a collaboration between Aronofsky and a certain Peter Parks, who is a specialist in macro photography. Essentially, many of the efftects were done in camera, using chemical and bacterial brews, shot under a macro lens. Seemingly, they shot over 20,000 feet of film in production. The laws of fluid dynamics, create an ethereal world that will, I suspect, hold up over time, much like Kubrick's visuals in 2001. I know the film has some flaws, but it's such a beautiful undertaking, and a brave film too. I think it's well worth checking out.
